Rank Tracker

Where you rank in Google,
with the search to prove it.

Track each client's positions in Google and Bing, on desktop and mobile, in the local pack and on Google Maps, from a country, a city or a postcode. Every position keeps the results list it was read from, next to what AI engines say about the same brand.

Included in every plan. The searches run on your own DataForSEO account at DataForSEO's price, with no markup and no keyword limit: at most USD 0.0108 per keyword, device and week for Google's top 100.

What makes a position worth trusting

Six things the Rank Tracker does on every check.

Google and Bing, desktop and mobile

Searched from a country, region, city, postcode or coordinates. Google on the country's own domain, up to the top 100; Bing up to the top 50.

Local pack, local list and Maps

Three lists that rank differently, read and named separately. A business is matched by its Google business id: paste its Maps address and the id is read from it.

The results list behind every number

Open any position to see the search itself: when it ran, what it cost, how many results came back, where every tracked domain stood, and the list.

Competitors at no extra cost

Up to 10 per client, read from the same searches. One added later is filled in from the results lists still stored in full.

AI Overviews

Whether Google showed an AI Overview for the keyword, and whether the client's site is among its sources.

Search volume, no traffic guesses

Google Keyword Planner's monthly searches for the keyword's country, shown as Google's own range. No modelled clicks and no visibility percentage.

Compared like with like

Google has two answers to the same search. We keep them apart.

Google answers a search either with a short page of a few dozen results or a long one of close to a hundred, and the two rank differently. They are different result sets, not one list cut short. CrunchJunkie stores how many results each check returned and measures a change only against the last check of the same kind. When a search asked for the top 100 comes back short, it is asked again ten minutes later.

  • Changes over 7, 28 or 90 days follow the same rule.
  • Two checks of different kinds show both positions, marked as not comparable, and are never counted as a move.
  • The evidence panel says when a search was asked twice and how many results the first answer had.

Not a fall from 5th to out: two different result sets. The full page is compared with the last full page.

“ads agentur hamburg”, searched from Hamburg on Google mobile: the short page on 1 October 2026, the full page on 2 October. From the stored evidence.

Pages

Which page ranks, and where pages take turns

The Pages view lists the site's pages that rank: how many keywords each ranks for, how many of those are in the top 3 and top 10, and the average position. Below it are the keywords on which a different page ranked than at the check before, with the date and both positions. Two pages going back and forth compete for the same search.

  • Name the page a keyword should rank with, and see when another page ranks instead.
  • Read from stored results: no search is sent and nothing is charged.

Found in the results

Who else ranks, and which of them AI engines cite

Found in the results counts the domains in the first ten organic results of your keywords: for how many keywords each one is there, how often in the top 3, and for how many it stands ahead of the client. Open a domain to see its ranking pages and the client's position on the same lists. With an AI Visibility project, the Cited by AI column counts how many of the client's tracked AI answers from the last 30 days cited that domain.

  • A page that ranks for your keywords and is cited by AI engines is a strong place to be listed.
  • Track a domain as a competitor in one click; its history is filled in from stored results.
  • Reads stored results only: no search, no charge.

Alerts

Alerts only for moves a second check confirms

One check is one sample: in our own test, one keyword read 5, 24, 24, 24 and 1 within two hours. So when the weekly check would raise an alert, those keywords are checked again within the hour, and the alert is raised only if both readings agree.

What raises one

Keywords entering or leaving the top 3 or top 10, a competitor moving above the client on the first page, a different page ranking, and an AI Overview starting or stopping to cite the site.

Where they go

The Signals inbox, next to the AI-visibility signals; the Monday digest; and client digests, if you switch rankings on there.

What they can start

Automations, including one that drafts an action plan when an AI Overview citation is lost. Every draft waits for your approval.

Rankings in client reports

Rank Tracking is a data source in the report builder: keywords in the top 3, 10 and 20, average position, biggest movers, positions by range and a comparison with competitors. White-label, next to Search Console, GA4 and AI visibility.

Reporting

Ask your assistant

The MCP connector has ten ranking tools: read positions and evidence, add keywords and competitors, set the schedule. Changes show a preview first, and a refresh that spends runs only after you confirm.

MCP connector

What it costs

The Rank Tracker is included in every CrunchJunkie plan, from €14 a month. DataForSEO bills the searches to your own account at their price: USD 0.0006 per page of ten results. CrunchJunkie adds nothing and sets no keyword limit.

Google top 100, one keyword on one device, one week
at most USD 0.0108
100 keywords on Google desktop and mobile, checked weekly
at most USD 2.16 a week (USD 9.36 a month)
Competitors, Pages, Found in the results, By tag
no extra cost
Refresh now, on the high-priority queue
twice the page price, shown before you confirm

Every amount shown before a run is the most it can cost, and is labelled “up to”. Google usually returns fewer pages than asked for, and DataForSEO bills only those. The maximum includes the AI Overview's sources and, when the first answer is a short page, the second ask.

What it doesn't do

Checks run weekly, with a manual refresh in between, not daily. It searches Google and Bing only, and Bing only for a country or region, not a city. It estimates no clicks or traffic: Search Console and GA4 report those. It has no backlink index and no keyword research tool.

FAQ

Questions about the Rank Tracker

The searches run on DataForSEO, a search-results provider, and are billed to your account at their price. The account and the bill stay with you; CrunchJunkie adds nothing. Create an account at dataforseo.com, add credit, and enter the API login and API password under Settings → Rank Tracker.

Once a week, on the weekday and hour you set for each client, in the client's timezone. Refresh now checks all or selected keywords straight away on the high-priority queue, after showing the most it can cost.

A tracked search is made from one place, on one device, at one moment, without a signed-in user. Your browser adds your location, your account and your history. And Google answers the same search with a short or a full results page, which rank differently. Open the position to see the exact list it came from.

Yes. With the client's Search Console connected, Show searches lists the searches of the last 28 days with at least 10 impressions that the site was shown for and you don't track yet. You can also paste up to 2,000 keywords at a time, with tags.

No. A ranking is one search from one place; AI visibility asks AI engines your customers' questions many times, across engines. They measure different things and are never added together. They meet in two places: AI Overview citations per keyword, and the Cited by AI column for the domains in your results.

Positions without a time limit. Each results list is kept in full for eight weeks, then shortened to the top ten and the rows of your tracked domains.
